Bryan’s spring banquet Monday night was the last one for retiring Viking tennis coach Randy Stewart, who was at the helm 24 years. Stewart handed out several awards, including Most Valuable Awards to Jacob Yancy and Kristin Paholek.

Stewart gave Most Improved Awards to Haven David and Caroline McCall. Grace Gutierrez won the Heart of the Team Award.

On the junior varsity side, Jackson Murray and Faith Ryan were the MVPs, Servando Sanchez and Ana Martinez were the Most Improved and Servando Sanchez won the Heart of the Team.

“After 37 years in the classroom and on the high school courts of Amarillo High, Graham High, and Bryan High, I coached my final varsity tennis tournament today,” Stewart had posted on the team’s Facebook following the 14-6A tournament at Cy-Fair on April 2. “Thanks to all the players I have been fortunate enough to have coached, and the parents I have worked with.
